Petite Powerhouses at the 2025 Met Gala: Fashion’s Finest Moments

The 2025 Met Gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated Black Dandyism and inspired creative, tailored fashion expressions. Among the attendees, several petite celebrities stood out, showcasing how stature is no barrier to making a grand fashion statement.

Simone Biles in custom Harbison Studio

Standing at 4’8″, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles turned heads in a vibrant capri blue Harbison Studio taffeta minidress. The ensemble featured a cathedral-length train, metallic floral embroidery, and 3D appliqué. She completed the look with Aquazzura platforms and a frosted gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Mini watch. Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, embraced the theme, making the gala a glamorous celebration of their second wedding anniversary.

Jenna Ortega in Balmain

Standing at 5’1″ (155 cm), Jenna Ortega captivated the 2025 Met Gala red carpet with a playful and imaginative Balmain creation. Her gown, inspired by a ruler, featured bold lines and structured tailoring, embodying the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Ortega’s ensemble seamlessly blended whimsy with sophistication, showcasing her ability to make a significant fashion statement regardless of stature.

Cynthia Erivo in Givenchy

At 5’1″ (155 cm), Cynthia Erivo made a commanding statement at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Givenchy ensemble designed by Sarah Burton. The look, inspired by Rococo dandyism, featured a sharply tailored jacket with exaggerated shoulders and a corseted tulle skirt, embodying both structure and fluidity. Embellished with over 43,400 Swarovski crystals, the intricate outfit required more than 2,250 hours to craft. Erivo’s ensemble paid homage to historical figures like Joseph Bologne and modern icons such as Prince, reflecting the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Her appearance was a testament to Black creativity and couture artistry.

Sabrina Carpenter in Louis Vuitton

At 5’0″ (152 cm), Sabrina Carpenter made a bold statement at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Louis Vuitton ensemble designed by Pharrell Williams. Embracing the no-trousers trend, she wore a maroon outfit styled to resemble a marching band conductor’s ensemble, complemented by signature high heels reminiscent of her “Short ‘n Sweet Tour” stage style.  Pharrell noted that the trouser-less look complemented her petite stature. This marked Carpenter’s third Met Gala appearance, and she humorously mentioned the practicality of her outfit compared to previous years.

Janelle Monáe in Thom Browne

Standing at 5’0″ (152 cm), Janelle Monáe captivated the 2025 Met Gala red carpet with a transformative Thom Browne ensemble. Embodying the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Monáe introduced a character named Jane, a time traveller, through her attire. The look featured an oversized cape with a trompe l’oeil suit and an inside-out skirt suit, reflecting intricate tailoring and a blend of past and future fashion elements. Accessories like a bowler hat and a working clock monocle added to the avant-garde dandyism, showcasing Monáe’s signature fusion of futurism and vintage flair.

Myha’la Herrold in Luar

At just 5’1″, Myha’la Herrold turned heads in a custom Luar look that perfectly fused streetwear and high fashion. She wore thigh-high Timberland-inspired boots in moiré silk and a sharp gray wool mini dress with zippers and embellishments—paying homage to Black dandyism and her New York roots. The bold ensemble, inspired by Herrold’s childhood dream of owning Timbs, was both a fashion moment and a personal triumph.

Shakira in Prabal Gurung

At 5’2″ (157 cm), Shakira made a striking appearance at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Prabal Gurung gown. The bubblegum pink dress featured dramatic hourglass cutouts and a voluminous tiered train, complemented by sheer black gloves and a matching pink gemstone pendant. While her princess-inspired ensemble may not have strictly adhered to the evening’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” it showcased her signature flair and captivated the red carpet.

Kim Kardashian in Chrome Hearts

At 5’2″ (157 cm), Kim Kardashian made a striking impression at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Chrome Hearts ensemble. Her figure-hugging black leather dress featured an asymmetrical neckline, peplum detail, and pearl embellishments, complemented by a matching leather hat that subtly nodded to the evening’s theme.

Kardashian’s edgy aesthetic was further accentuated by her high messy bun with face-framing curtain bangs, smoky eye makeup, and nude lip. She accessorised minimally with silver cross earrings and black platform stiletto sandals from Pleaser Adore, adding height to her petite frame.

While her ensemble may not have strictly adhered to the evening’s theme, Kardashian’s bold fashion choices continued to showcase her signature style and ability to make a statement on the red carpet.

The 2025 Met Gala highlighted how petite celebrities can command attention and embody grandeur through thoughtful fashion choices. Their ensembles not only celebrated the theme but also showcased their unique styles, proving that elegance and impact are not measured in inches but in confidence and creativity.
